COMPETITION BYE-LAWS

1. For any 36 hole event a tie will be decided on the score for the last 18 holes.  For any 18 hole event a  tie will be decided on the last 9 holes.  In the event of a further tie, this will be resolved  in the following order: last 6 holes, last 12 holes, last 3 holes, last 15 holes.  If there is still a tie, this will then be decided by match play on the card.  Ties in  match play may, at the option of  the players concerned, be decided by continuing play until a hole is won, or by  playing an  additional three    holes and  if necessary a series of a further three holes until a decision is  reached. Failing  agreement on these lines the tie shall be decided over an additional 18 holes  according to the rules governing the competition.

2. All cards taken out on any competition must be signed by the marker and competitor and returned whether completed or not, and anyone failing to return his card shall be liable to have
his handicap reduced at the discretion of the Handicapping Sub-Committee

3. Any competition shall be decided null and void unless at least ten cards are taken out.

4. Competitors must at all times comply with the regulations laid down by the Committee for the competition, as stated from time to time on the Notice Board. THEY MUST ALWAYS:

(a) Enter name, amount of entrance(if any) and sweep money in the Competition Box.

(b) State name, and amount of money enclosed or an envelope and place it in the
      competition box

5. A member has entered a competition when he signs the Competition Book and has rendered himself liable for the entrance fees, and sweep monies laid down for the competition.  If disqualified he forfeits his entrance and sweep monies.  He may not enter the Clubhouse again until he has completed his round, or has retired.


6. Knockout Competitions
  (a) Responsibility for arranging a match rests equally with both players or pairs
  (b) A final playing date will be given by the Committee for each round
  (c) If a match has not been played 10 days before the final playing date, a time and date when 
       the match will be played must be clearly marked on the knockout sheet.
  (d) The Competitions Secretary may contact the players to find out why arrangements have 
        not been made.
  (e) Within the time allotted. each match must be played or the result determined by the use of
       a mutually agreed bye.
  (f)  Failure to do this will result in the players being disqualified.
  (g) Winners of a match are responsible for entering their names for the next round.
  (h) Under no circumstances will extensions be granted.
  (i) Members who choose to enter the knockout competitions must obey the rules.

7.  No member will play in Club competitions with a non-member, except where the non-member has submitted an application to join the Club and has paid the entrance fee.  This condition shall not apply to those competitions organised by the Committee as "Invitation" events.

8.  The Rules of Golf as laid down by the Royal and Ancient will as far as possible, be enforced, subject to such local rules as may be in force.

9.  Any competitor who fails to report an infringement of these Rules will be liable to    disqualification together with the offender

10. If a member is or becomes a member of more than one Club, his Home Club shall be the Club at which he plays most of his competitive golf.  Such Home Club shall be the only Club having authority for and control of  a players handicap, with the exception of a Category 1 player whose handicap is administered by the Body controlling Golf in his area. If a member joins another Club, his existing  Handicap should apply at his new Club.  On returning to the game after an absence a player shall play from his previous handicap he held there.

11. It shall be the duty of every player when returning a score which warrents a  reduction in handicap to IMMEDIATELY revise his own handicap prior to  competing in any subsequent round of golf.

12. All members must observe the Rules and Bye-Laws in force on the Wirral  Borough Council Municipal Links,  and extend to all players on the links the same courtesy they would expect to receive themselves

13. For the purpose of dividing sweep monies, handicaps are to be divided into classes (a)  and (b).  The division  will be decided at the start of the season using the handicaps of  playing members to establish as near as possible an equal number of members in each sweep
